Subject:          Tear Down Dividing Walls

For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us.—Ephesians 2:14

Dear Church Family,
Since the campaign, election, and inauguration of the new United States president, many of us in our congregation and indeed the world are experiencing the building up and intensifying of dividing walls. Our belief in Unity in Diversity and Worth of All Persons is being profoundly tested.

In an effort to remain grounded in the compassionate grace generously bestowed upon us by God, our eternal creator, we invite all who are feeling vulnerable to join us at 8:30 AM Sunday, February 12, 2017. In lieu of our monthly priesthood meeting, we will spend time listening and praying for one another as we pursue ways to tear down and resist the walls threatening to further divide us. We will also review guidance from the First Presidency, including their February 2, 2017 letter in response to the temporary US ban on immigration from identified nations. Also, all who are interested in helping to plan this session, please meet with us pastors this Tuesday (2/7) at 6:30 PM at the church. We believe input from many will help us offer a richer listening experience.

From the First Presidency: We are called to be bridge builders. We must be open to listen to our neighbors and find ways to support those who are most vulnerable.
May you feel the peace found in our Savior Jesus Christ who has broken down the dividing wall between us.
